SOUL’D
OUT plays a custom blend of Rhythm and
Blues, Classic Rock, Soul, Blues and Funk. The band plays upbeat, high-energy
songs that only a seven-piece horn band can provide. Each member plays multiple
instruments and/or sings with extraordinary results. Their instrumental pallet
includes lead and rhythm guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, two trumpets,
harmonica, trombone, congas, timbales, bongos and a large dose of what the band
calls their ''secondary'' weapons of mass percussion. Those include tambourines,
claves, woodblocks, afuches, vibraslaps, bells, guiros and whatever else they
can get their hands on.

The band was born in the fall of
2003 from the desire and determination of band members Mike Reid, Keith VanDyke
and Paul Wronski to put together a diversified group of musicians that could
comfortably play a broad mix of music. With the additions of Tom LaNoue on lead
guitar, Tom Trimbach on trumpet, Mark Blauvelt on bass and lead singer Bubba
LeClair the band played their first professional gig at the Porto Bello Grand
Hall in downtown Grand Haven in January of 2004. In June of 2005, Mark Sluiter
joined the band replacing Tom Trimbach. In 2007 Bruce Bos replaced Mark
Blauvelt on bass. "When Bruce moved out of state in 2010, Rick Hunter joined the
band on bass."
The SOUL'D OUT Band plays
songs from 70s horn bands like Chicago and the Ides of March and funk bands like
the Tower of Power and the Average White Band. They also delve in classic rock
from groups like Santana, Tom Petty, and Rare Earth. Add in some soul and rhythm
and blues from artists like Sam and Dave, The Rascals, Van Morrison and Wilson
Pickett and you start to get the picture. If the song has soul, the band wants
to play it!
